During Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2025, Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, the UAE's Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, announced the collaboration with IPHE to draft legislations and policies supporting hydrogen production sustainability. These efforts are aimed at establishing clear standards and a roadmap for the sector. The UAE is targeting the production of 1.4 million metric tonnes of low-carbon hydrogen annually by 2031, requiring comprehensive regulations. Al Mazrouei emphasized the importance of global partnerships for developing sustainable legislations to boost the hydrogen sector. The UAE also aims to reduce hydrogen production costs, which have already decreased by 40 to 50 per cent. This reduction, from USD 10 to USD 5-6 per kilogram, is set to enhance the sector's sustainability. The ultimate goal is to position the UAE as a key player in the global production and export of low-carbon hydrogen energy.
