Lagan Energy, a company based in Omagh, Northern Ireland, is set to grow its workforce by 70%, creating 30 new roles over the next few years. Specializing in electrical engineering, onshore/offshore wind, hydrogen, battery storage, solar power, and data center facilities, the company aims to drive growth in the green economy and contribute to the decarbonization of the energy system. Minister Conor Murphy highlighted that Lagan Energy’s expansion aligns with the government's ambitions for the economy. The company recently achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first on the island of Ireland to successfully install a hydrogen electrolyser, producing green gas from renewable energy. This installation took place at the Long Mountain wind farm in Co Antrim. Emmet Lagan, the director of Lagan Energy, emphasized the importance of investing in new roles to support the company's capabilities in the green hydrogen, renewables, and data centers sectors. The company's forecast indicates that hydrogen and offshore wind projects will constitute 40% of its total turnover within three years. Lagan Energy's growth has been supported by Invest Northern Ireland, with the planned expansion focusing on meeting increased demands for resources in the international market. The company's commitment to upskilling its workforce and the support of Invest NI will play a crucial role in strengthening resources for ongoing and upcoming projects in multiple countries. Jeremy Fitch, executive director of Business Growth Group at Invest NI, praised Lagan Energy's growth, highlighting the company's position as a top player in the renewables sector. The support provided by Invest NI, including in-market expertise and assistance in attending trade shows, will enable Lagan Energy to capitalize on opportunities in the green economy and continue its trajectory of success.
